In December of 2016, the City and County of Honolulu ordered the Polynesian Plaza Hotel to cease operations for housing visitors while construction was still ongoing. The City and County also said the hotel had a faulty fire alarm system and that a stairwell was partly blocked. Hawai’i News Now reported on this case.
